How do I qualify to receive free EHR and Practice Management software?
All clients of the MedAZ Billing Plus program automatically qualify to receive EHR Plus and Practice Plus free. Depending on the annual billing level of your practice you may also receive free installation, training, support and upgrades.

What do you charge for your billing program?
Like most other billing programs, Billing Plus is funded by a small percentage of practice billings. The resulting payment is typically far less than the cost of personnel and space required for manual systems. Our percentage cost is comparable to other billing systems, but your total investment is significantly lower with MedAZ because we give you Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management software free, which the others do not. In recognition of obvious economies of scale, we also offer lower percentage fees for higher billing practices.

Will it increase my billing revenues?  Help with cash flow?
Yes, and yes. Billing Plus users almost invariably report that the system regularly identifies legitimately billable items that their practices had not been charging previously. The speed (bills ready for transmission before the patient even leaves the office), accuracy, proper coding and adherence to payor policies combine to produce faster payment and therefore increased cash flow.

Can your billing system inprove my denial/rejection rate?
Yes. MedAZ follows ISO 9001 certified processes to ensure that the bills are sent out clean the 1st time. Our scrubbing tool provides LMRP edits, CCI and mutually exclusive edits. Our process ensures accurate tracking and follow-up on denied claims through resolution.

How many insurance plans does your billing system allow? How are new plans added?
There is no restriction on the number of plans that can be added. MedAZ provides this ability through the Insurance setup screen in the system.

Can I just use you for billing if I don't need the other software?
Yes. However the benefits of integration between billing, management and medical record programs will be lost.

What does CCHIT certified mean?  certified vs. compliant?
CCHIT – the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology – is a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating adoption of healthcare IT. The certification criteria were developed through a voluntary, consensus-based process engaging diverse stakeholders.

Why do I need a CCHIT certified system?    Does it cost more?
CCHIT Certification is your assurance that the system meets nationally recognized standards. It is also the de facto standard of eligibility to receive enhanced reimbursement for ‘meaningful use’ of EHR under the HITECH Act. Since you will receive EHR Plus free with your subscription to MedAZ Billing Plus, there is no additional cost.

How does President Obama's health initiative affect this? Are there federal funds to pay for a new EHR?

Is MedAZ HIPAA compliant?
Yes.

What are the security levels on the system? different staff get different passwords and different access?
MedAZ provides the ability to define the tasks for a role, map users to a role and further restrict accesses based on the priviliges to be given to the user. For e.g., you could set up a Billing manager and a Billing clerk under the same role with differing priviliges.

Can you interface with my laboratory?
Yes. MedAZ is Health Level 7 (HL7) compliant. Our interfaces are certified for use with Quest Labs, LabCorp and numerous regional Labs.

I have my own laboratory in my office. Can I interface my lab results into the EHR, order our tests thru the lab module and do the billing for the lab portion?
Yes. MedAZ can interface with your lab system to order tests, receive results and bill for all testing.

Do you have electronic prescriptions? What is the cost?
Yes. MedAZ is currently undegoing final certification with Surescripts to generate prescriptions and prescription refills electronically. MedAZ does not charge you anything for this feature. However, Surescripts, the pharmacy clearinghouse may have a per transaction cost that is defined in the terms of your agreement with them.

Does the system have drug interactions? Drug and allergy interactions?
Yes. MedAZ provides drug-drug, drug-allergy and drug-procedure interaction checking. Data is obtained using certified 3rd party sources and updated monthly. Known interactions are automatically alerted.

Do you have credit card processing as part of the billing process?
MedAZ is working with a few 3rd party credit card processing companies. Customers of these companies can use MedAZ to accept credit and debit card payments.

Can I view the status of each bill or claim?
Yes. MedAZ provides accurate tracking and follow-up on all claims through resolution. Authorized users can view the real time status of any claim.

How do my current charts get into the EHR system?
Current charts are scanned into the system and can be viewed by clinical personnel. You have the option of scanning these charts as a 1 time effort or scanning them in when they are coming in for appointments. Scanning the charts in when patients are coming in for an appointment help you to slowly wean away from paper charts in 6-9 months.

I currently have an old billing system and EHR. Can you convert the information and transfer it into your system?
Yes. We can migrate patient demographics, insurance information and EHR data into MedAZ. Modest fees may apply.

I have more than one office, can I view other offices from any site? Is there an additional charge for each office?
All authorized users can view information from any site or through the internet. There is no additional charge for this service.

Does your system help with risk management?
Yes. The combination of highly detailed record-keeping and access to evidence based guidelines will help to mitigate risk. The system will also help you with insurance audits.

What are the computer and internet connection requirements for my office to use your system?
The requirements vary based on the size of your practice. A typical environment consists of a server in your office with a DSL or Cable connection and computers connected to your server.
