MedAZ and the HITECH Act
Our systems may qualify your practice for enhanced reimbursement.
The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act passed by Congress and signed by President Obama as part of the economic stimulus program in February, 2009, contains provisions to encourage “meaningful use” of EHR systems by providing financial incentives to practitioners.
While the precise standards and policies that constitute meaningful use have not yet been determined, MedAZ is committed to bringing our products into compliance as soon as the pertinent regulations are adopted. Certain features, such as electronic prescribing and electronic information exchange, are known to be required and are already included in EHR Plus.
EHR Certification Update:
The government agency in charge of testing and certifying EHRs is considering a new system that could, down the road, change the role of CCHIT. Proposed new rules are expected to be published soon in the Federal Register, a step that opens the process to public content. If adopted as drafted, the new rules would have testing and certification done by different bodies. You can get more information here.
MedAZ is keeping a constant watch on regulatory and policy developments related to the HITECH Act and we’ll be pleased to share them with you so your practice can be better prepared to take advantage. Just fill out and submit the quick form:
